I'll remember that when I decide to purchase a new one, but untill then I need a little advice. I tried to contact bayliner to find out, they kind of gave me the run around and acted like they didn't want to mess with someone with a 20yr old boat. My boat is a 1988 bayliner, I didn't know if escort was their own inhouse brand of trailer or if they were made by someone else. HELP!! I'm a newbie and can use the direction. I have tried to figure out who makes Escort trailers and how to contact them, but have not had any luck. Any Ideas? I figured if I had the first part of the vin tag number, I could use my SSN or such for the serial #. I also will need a vin to register my trailer. My trailer shop needs my VIN which is incomplete, I am hoping that if I can figure out the VIN I can work with my local trailer shop, since it is close by. Does anyone have the break down, as to what the VIN numbers and letters are in reference to. It is a 88 escort?, I have found a couple of places that handle parts for them, but they keep asking me in reference to my VIN tag that is not completely ledgable. Bad bad design.I am looking for parts for my trailer. The fenders can't be raised because they are barely an inch below the boat when it's on the trailer. Hit a hole and the tire gets pushed right against the nuts and cuts the tires. The dang things sticking down gave very little clearance between the tire and the nut. Stolen vehicles: A vehicle’s VIN is a unique fingerprint that can help law enforcement agencies track down stolen vehicles and prevent consumers from purchasing illegally acquired goods. The fender mounts on 2 brackets, and the bolts run down from top of fender thru bracket, and the nuts are on bottom. Guess where that came from? Yet again, the stupid design of the trailer. When I got home, noticed the brand new tires had 2 grooves cut on each side of the tread. When I bought the boat I put new tires on it. Once the bunks are done, the fenders are next. And, I've already replaced the entire break system hoses, brake drums, brake backing plates, break actuator, new wheel bearings on their way and a new spare wheel/tire last year. unlike a shop who has an overhead lift which would be much easier. I know sometimes it takes a lot of loading/unloading the boat to make it fit right. I thought about a new trailer but I don't have anywhere I can use to adjust the trailer to fit the boat.
